7 Items That Help Us Survive School Closings This Winter

When winter storms roll in and schools shut down, it sounds cozy in theory until you’re stuck indoors with young kids who are bored and restless. They very aware that something about their routine is off. During the recent school closures, we had to get a little creative to keep the kids entertained and (mostly) sane. Honestly, to keep myself sane too.

Over the past couple weeks, these 7 simple items became overused items in our house. They helped fill long days and encouraged independent play. They even add a bit of structure when everything else felt chaotic.

A quick heads-up: this post contains Amazon affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. I only share things we’ve actually used and love, especially during times like these when parents are just trying to get through the day.

If you’re facing snow days and unexpected closures, I hope these ideas help your family as much as they helped ours. 💙
